Photos Page 4

These are photos taken from my recent camping trip to Twin Lakes, California.  This trip is becoming a new family tradition as it was our (me George and Irene) 4th year going with Tasso, Vicki and Lea.  This year (as well as last year) Vicki's Brother Byron joined us and we had a heck of a time.  Byron is a now a full fledged member of the "Clan McGregor".

Enjoy the pictures of the "Clan McGregor" camping trip of 2004

Outside Reno

I took this shot while driving on the highway outside Reno. I saw the cloud cover over the mountains and thought it was very different. This is also available in the Wallpaper section.

Desert Mountains

Another shot on the way to Carson City Nevada. Taken from the car on the highway. It's not that easy to drive and take a photo at the same time, but it turned out pretty good. This one is also on the wallpaper page.

Tasso's "Good" side?

Heading towards Carson City Nevada, I thought it would be fun to snap this one. I rested the camera on my steering wheel and "voila".

Another one of the Truck

Sped up to get closer??? No, just having fun with the "Zoom" feature on the camera.

More clouds and mountains

I'm so used to seeing the cloud cover of the S.F. Bay Area. Meaning you see one cloud...one cloud covering the whole area. I like these better

Hazy Morning

This was taken on our first morning at camp. The sun started poking through the trees. This one is also on the Wallpaper page.

New Homes

Both Tasso and I upgraded to new tents this year. We also traded "spots". That's mine on the left (red) and Tasso's on the right (blue).

Early morning flame

It was COLD in the A.M. Early morning camp fires were necessary for Byron and I who got up early.

A BEAR!!!!

Nah! Just Tasso on our first morning. Around 8:00am. Hasn't had coffee...water...or a bar of soap yet.

Shower Time!!!

New addition to our camping gear. A shower enclosure. Tasso was the first to try it out. Check out the feat of engineering it took to put that thing up!!!

Play Time

The "cheedrens" playing cards in the "net". Safe from bugs. Another new addition to our camp gear.

The campfire site.

Here's where we hang when the sun goes down. Note the "camp-kitchen" in the background...and "Kymata" in the foreground. Kymata really gets around!!

Nightime Fire

At night when the conversation dies down, staring in to the fire gets very hypnotic.

Roaring fire

This pic is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

After a day on the Lake

Note George with the towel around his legs. He's not "cold", he's sun burned and has the towel there to protect him from the heat of the camp fire.

Getting Chilly

As the night moves on, it gets chilly. Vicki and Lea wear sweat jackets.

A Deer!

Lots of deers in the area. One of several "visits". This doe came along with her buck and fawn. The buck was of fair size (a 4-pointer) but took off before I could snap the pic. This is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

The fawn

The "baby" turned right to me. It was perfect timing.

Unfortunately, there was a photo of mother and baby together, but it came out blurry so..."DELETE".

This one is also available as wallpaper.

"Up the Creek!"

This was an attempt to take the beauty of the creek that we camp besides. It's movement puts us to sleep nightly.

Rushing water

This is the creek. A tree had fallen from the banks and created a dam and waterfall. This structure is about 30 feet from our campsite. This pic is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

Camp Site

Part I of our camp site. Note how close Tasso's tent is to the creek.

Camp Site again.

Part II. Just to the left (about 8-10 feet) would be Tasso's tent. Here is my tent and the rest of the site.

Sunrise

The sun hasn't quite reached our site yet, but has hit the mountain peaks in the background. This pic is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

Camp Life

Here Tasso is conversing with Vicki and Lea while George sets up for game of chess with his "old man" who happens to be behind the camera. Interesting note. This trip marked the first time he beat me in chess...I think he cheated!!!

Family Portrait?

This was not a pose...well, not really. Tasso Vicki and Lea where already talking in that very position. When I saw that it looked like something out of "family Americana". Irene joined at the end and the pic was taken.

George is ready to play.

George has set up the set. Interestingly, I've had that very chess set since I was his age.

Note: Check out Irene in the background!!!

Inside our tent

Bedtime. Couldn't resist.

Bedtime - Take II

Irene hiding from the camera. Excuse the mess...the maid was off this weekend.

Twin Lake

This is the upper lake. About 1/3 of the way in looking back to the resort. This pic is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

George at the Helm

George got bored of fishing but LOVED to drive the boat. Coincidentally, I always had my best luck with him at the helm.

Creek Water

This pic didn't turn out exactly as I wanted it to. To the right of the old boat house there is runoff water flowing into the lake. In life it's really quite stunning, but pretty as it is, this pic does not do it justice. Still...it is available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

Creek water II

Another view. Also available as wallpaper.

Upper twin lake

This was taken from the boat on the waters of the "Upper" twin lake. It was pretty neat seeing how the mountain just ends into the lake. This pic is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

Snowy Crags

Snow stays on the mountain peaks pretty much all year round. The crags on this peak were quiet stunning. This pic is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

Upper Twin Lake Canyon

Again, looking back to the resort about 1/2 way on the lake. The canyon behind the resort is amazing. I'd love to fly a small plane or chopper through it. This pic is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

Lone Home

There was one little house sitting on one side of the lake...all alone. This pic is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

Single Home

Another view of the little red home. This pic is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

Homes on lake

Upper Twin Lake: Some very NICE homes. This pic is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

EXTREME Close Up

George snapped this picture. Don't know WHY he felt it needed to be so CLOSE!

Note: You can see George's reflection in my glasses.

Mini Water fall

More runoff into the lake. Kind of hard to see because of the light colored rocks, but center picture you can see white water. This runoff can be seen all the way up the mountain. This pic is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

Mini Waterfall II

Another view. This pic is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

Lone Cloud

Lonely little cloud drifting over the land mass between the two lakes. Taken from the center of "Upper" Twin Lake, looking towards "Lower" Twin Lake.

Just Relaxing

George enjoying the sun and the wakes on the lake.

Irene and Mako

I'm at the helm, and Irene wanted to drive. George grabbed the camera for posterity.

Dam and Waterfall

At our campsite. This tree fell a few years ago and created this dam and waterfall. The water rose quite a bit this year to where the water behind the dam is about 4-5 feet deep.

This pic is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

Just the Waterfall

The water moves quite fast. Good fishing in the morning.

This pic is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

Roll Call

After breakfast/lunch and a tad of "shopping" in Bridgeport, on our way home.

In order from left to right. George, Tasso, Irene, Lea, Vicki, and Byron. I'm behind the camera.

Historical Landmark

This cannon sits next to City Hall in Bridgeport. The building is very old (1800s) but couldn't get a picture of it as there were too many cars parked in front. So I took a picture of just the cannon. This pic is also available as wallpaper on the wallpaper page.

On the ride out - heading home

Leaving Bridgeport. Past the fields and into the mountains in the background is Twin Lakes...where we were camping. I highly recommend it. It is gorgeous!
